Dental Teeth Bonding

Dental bonding is the use of a special resin composite that adheres to your teeth and becomes a replacement for your own enamel. Bonding can solve many cosmetic problems quickly. Stained, gapped, chipped or mis-aligned teeth can be bonded to give you a reshaped smile, usually in one office visit. Dr Edgar will match the color of the bonding material with your teeth so that it appears natural.

A tooth bonding procedure begins by preparing the tooth for the dental bonding by etching the tooths natural surface. Next, the bonding material is applied in layers to the tooth. After Dr. Edgar has applied the tooth bonding, the material is finely shaped and polished so that it perfectly matches the rest of your teeth. Bonding can be used for:

  • Chipped Teeth
  • Cracked Teeth
  • Discolored Teeth
  • Stained Teeth
  • Misshapen Teeth
  • Spaces Between Teeth
  • Crooked Teeth

In some cases, teeth whitening treatments are ineffective. When this happens, teeth bonding can be used as a permanent teeth whitening procedure.

Tooth bonding is a very versatile cosmetic dentistry procedure. However, after tooth bonding has been applied to your teeth, it must be maintained in order for your dental bonding to last. It can be stained, so dark foods or other staining agents should be avoided, along with harsh toothpastes or hard toothbrushes because they can dull the shine of the teeth bonding.
